
The Lancet Global Health Commission on Global Eye Health according to a new 2021 report estimates that about 1.1 billion people worldwide currently live with some form of visual impairment.
They add that 90% of these individuals live in low-income or middle-income countries and 90% have a preventable or treatable cause with currently available and cost-effective treatment interventions.
